Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to travel with a car ferry?
Depending on where your travel takes place and at what period, price will be determined by peak seasons and weekend sailings. Sailings are more expensive.
How do I find the cost of my travel? Can I make online bookings? How do I receive my ticket for online bookings?
You can contact an operator of your choice. Most ferry operators have online booking services. You have to verify with your operator regarding ticket receipts.
I don't intend to bring a car, can I also ride the ferry?
Yes. You will be considered a foot passenger. Rates differ with foot passengers. Just contact the operator whose services you will be using.
What facilities are there inside a car ferry?
Car ferries usually have restaurants, bars and a kid's play area. Some have movie rooms and swimming pools. You may check with you operator for a more detailed list of facilities.
Are pets allowed in the Ferry?
You can take pets with you on your trips but you have to secure a permit from a Pet Travel Scheme Declaration. You will have to also check for additional rates. And depending on the ferry operator and route, pets will have to be kept in the car, inaccessible to the passenger.
You can obtain the permit from DEFRA
