Routes
Here are regular car ferry routes to take, when in UK.
In the English Channel
- From France, the main route to take is from Dover – Calais. It takes 1hour 15 minutes to travel. If using Hovercraft/Seacat, it will take 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- From Dover to London, take the M20 then A20. It takes 2 hours to 2 hours and 30 minutes travel time.
- In the South Coast themain ferry port is Portsmouth with routes to FRANCE: Caen, 6 hours; Le Havre, 6 hours; Cherbourg, 5 hours; St Malo, 9 hours; to SPAIN: Bilbao 33-34 hours.
- Coming from Portsmouth to London take A3. It takes 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes travel time.
From the North Sea
- Coming from the Netherlands Hook van Holland going to Harwich is a 7- hour travel.
- Hamburg Germany to Harwich is about 19-20 hours.
- From Esbjerg Scandinavia to Harwich, is about 19 to 24 hours.
- Harwich to London take the A120 station moving to A12. This trip takes 2 hours.
In the Irish Sea
- In Northern Ireland take the ferry in Belfast or Larne to get to Stranraer, Scotland. This is a 2 hour trip.
- Coming from Stranraer take the A75 then move to the M6 to the M1, the trip takes about 7-9 hours.
- Originally from Dublin, Eire to travel from Dun Laoghaire - Holyhead (N.Wales), will take a 4 hour trip.
- From Holyhead A5 moving to the A55 then the M56 to the M6 and then M1 , will take 5-6 hours.
- In Southern Eire, travel from Rosslare to Fishguard (W.Wales) will take 4 hours all the way to London Paddington.
- From Fishguard take A40 then A48 then M4, to make 5 hours travel.
