WHERE TO IMPORT
The most obvious answer to that would be directly from the manufacturers
themselves. That is if you have a load of money to spend and a means
to transport your purchase halfway around the globe back to your garage.
For the average import car buyer however, one need not look very far.
Most cut price cars could be obtained in Europe. One must remember that
car manufacturers carefully consider the status of taxes imposed by
the different EU countries and often lower prices in countries where
taxes are higher. These countries are prime locations for obtaining
your next dream import and could save you a few hundred quid from your
purchase budget. For the sports car enthusiast, their Mecca-of-sorts
would be Japan, where some of the fastest souped-up roadsters may be
obtained. Also, some Japanese car models have not been made available
in Europe.
If the trouble of going abroad and doing all the leg work yourself
is proving to be too much of a hassle, a number of import car brokers
and dealers are available in most motoring magazines and the internet.
Most handle and facilitate the paperwork, transport and releasing of
your vehicle, and all the nitty gritty usually associated with importing
in the EU. Savings may not be as spectacular since most brokers and
agents charge 10% of the total value of your import, but this saves
you a whole deal of trouble by letting them do the work.
