About Car Plates UK

Number plates carry registration marks important for identification and verification. These registration marks are the characters needed for identification and verification. It is most especially helpful to the police in solving various motor-related crimes and misdemeanors.

Number plates are required to be placed on the front and the back of motor vehicles. The lettering should be in black and white in front, while it should be yellow for the back. The characters must not be reflective and the letters and spacing must follow the set size.

By law, number plates must follow certain standards of visibility, strength and reflectivity. They should be marked with the name and trademark of the company who supplied the plate. Optional add-ons include a non-reflective border and the Euro-symbol. But there should be no other markings on the plate other than these.

British law requires that number plates must not be altered or rearranged or else the offenders will be fined up to £1,000 and registration may be withdrawn.
