The Number Plates

Number Plates may be DVLA issued or may be private/personalize and these is obtained at
- the DVLA – for regular car plates, the DVLA offer telesales facility where you can inquire and place orders. They charge about £250 (all-inclusive) for the number plates. For something more prestigious, they also have an auction.
- Various stores and suppliers in the UK, including the internet.
Private Number Plate suppliers are required by law to be registered with the DVLA.
The following are required when having number plates made up. These documents must be provided to the number plate supplier:
- Form V5 - Vehicle Registration Document
- Form V750 - Certificate of Entitlement to a mark
- Form V778 - Cherished Transfer Retention Document
- Form V11 - Vehicle License Renewal
- Form V379 - Certificate of Vehicle Registration
- Vehicle Export Certificate.
- Authorization slip from DVLA local office with official DVLA stamp.
Also, additionally any of these following personal details must be presented for verification:
- A current identification card or drivers license
- Passport.
- Credit card bearing a picture
- Travel Pass card bearing a picture
- Foreign national identity card.
If this should be bought as a gift or for someone else, the proof of personal details is to the person who will have the plates made up.
For new vehicles, the owner must simply show the appropriate proof of entitlement .
