Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I've got condensation in between the layers of my plastic double glazed windows, how can I remove it?
A: The way to remove condensation from windows is to first remove the little plastic plugs that you will find somewhere on the window usually at the top or hidden just behind the window catches, usually it's enough just to remove the plugs in direct sunlight and let the sun dry it out. If that doesn't work then use a hair drier to blow into the holes and gently over the damp area of the window, on a warm setting, not hot as this could damage the window. Replace the plugs when dry. If the problem persists you will have to reseal the joint between the plastic layers of the window
Q: My windows keep sticking to the rubber surround, what can I do?
A: Clean the window and the rubber, then when dry use talcum powder or French chalk on the rubber and this will prevent it from sticking. Do not use Vaseline, sunflower or olive oil as it is petroleum based and can degrade plastic and make rubber porous.
Q: I've heard that Butane gas freezes so do I need to use propane?
You are right about Butane freezing this can also happen on a frosty night, especially if the bottle is getting low (I know it has happened to me), even if it is in a gas locker box, I prefer the connection on the 7kg butane as it is a quick fit 'click on', 'lift off' regulator. One solution which works for some people (me included) is to have both types just using propane when the weather is getting colder, that said many people I know use propane all year round, caravanning most weekends though the year, they say it is easier than worrying about changing, also claiming that the flame is better and cleaner, they mainly use the newish 6kg size bottles, or even the larger 13kg size which works out much cheaper than using the smaller 'dumpy' 3.9kg size ones.
A: If you intend to use the vehicle a lot in the winter months I would go with propane.
Q: How do I know what size awning I need for my Caravan?
A: To find the correct size for your caravan, measure ground to ground from a point vertically below the awning channel at one end, around the periphery, to a point vertically below the awning channel at the other end (as shown below). The caravan should be on level ground when obtaining measurement.
