Test Driving the Car
As if not stressed enough, never buy a used car without test-driving
it.
Listen to the engine, as well as the suspension, for weird noises.
This trial run of the car gives you a good chance to try out the steering,
brakes, clutch and acceleration of the car.
Try to test out the reverse gear at least once during your drive. Listen
out for any noises when engaging the gear.
Before testing out the brakes with an emergency-style brake, be courteous
and ask for the permission to try it out from your seller beforehand.
Make sure that it is safe to do so too!
During a successful test drive, you shouldn’t notice anything
strange with the car that you have never experienced before. Question
anything suspicious and never accept an explanation from the seller
without first consulting a qualified mechanic.
Most importantly when driving, you should feel that you are providing
a safe journey to yourself and your passengers. If the car does not
feel right, just look for another one.
